about the workshop

This intermediate-level workshop will focus on finding center in spins and balances, exploring momentum and body mechanics for fast and slow movements.

We will work on clean, centered spins and using the spin to your advantage. We will work on back, hip, shoulder, and chest balances as well as smooth transitions in and out of them.  Prerequisites: students should be comfortable mounting the lyra spinning.

about the instructor

Lydia Tweksbury is a multimedia artist focusing in aerial arts and passionate about storytelling through performance. You'll often find her overlapping textiles, lighting projection, and environmental messages through her work. While lyra is her first love, she also avoids the ground by practicing sling, silks, pole, trapeze, and stilt-walking.  When she's not in the air, you can find her painting, woodworking, sewing, playing music, and making tiny baskets. Lydia has choreographed and performed with Asheville Aerial Arts, Flying Catastrophe Circus, Empyrean Arts, and Warren Wilson Circus as well as creating her own projects including "The Veil is Thin," a circus short film.
