We are very excited to bring “Webs: A Circus Confronting Sexualized Violence with Humor, Tragedy and Empathy” to the Atlanta community. The show was scheduled to be presented on February 16 at Grant Park Manor, former home of D'AIR and then the Circus School of Atlanta, owned by Tim Mack.
In the past weeks, we have been contacted by women in the Atlanta circus community sharing information that Tim Mack has been accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women in the community. We contacted Mixdeity, the entity currently producing shows at Grant Park Manor, and asked for a public statement about Mack’s affiliation with the current space. Owner Rock Solomon denies any affiliation with Mack, but went on to say he would rather not associate himself with anyone on either side of the situation.
The cast of “Webs” and One World Circus cannot, in good conscience, perform this show in a space unwilling to take a clear, firm and public stand with survivors. We believe that dismantling the culture that has created widespread sexualized violence can only happen when we are willing to be honest and forthright about the harm that has happened and take steps to say “No More.” There is no “neutrality” that will get us to a place of dismantled systems of oppression.
We will be rescheduling the show for an alternate venue in March. We are sorry for any inconvenience the rescheduling may cause and look forward to continuing this important and timely conversation in the community in March. Please join us then.
